Latest file for
v1.20.4:
cutfattolardcompat-v1.0.0.zip
1-click install
Using https://mods.vintagestory.at/cutthefat pieces of fat you can now create https://mods.vintagestory.at/expandedfoods lard.
It's probably a bit cheaty since it's basically either tripling or quadrupling the amount of lard you can make per Lump of Fat, but eh.
It should keep working for so long as a) Cut the Fat doesn't change it's domain away from game: (by the way, that's supposed to not be "game:" if keeping with the guides from the wiki but eh) and b) so long as Expanded Foods keeps lard as a recipe made by simmering.

So, it turns out that I am very dumb, and missed that Cut the Fat had an update at some point. I dug around in the mod cache folders and realized this one had never unpacked, double checked it against the list in-game, and saw it was complaining about missing the dependency. Checked CfF's page and whoops, wrong version! Very sorry for wasting your time, and thank you for trying to help.
Edit: I did update CtF on my server, only for it to still not work, but adding that dependency bit to the modinfo.json fixed it!

You could look into the Logs folder and look at client-main.log. There should be a line about "Mods, sorted by dependency:" which should tell you which loads first? I'm learning about all of this myself as we chat here, funnily enough.
For me it tells me about cutfattolardcompat first, then cutthefat, then expandedfoods. If it's the same for you then I'm sadly incapable of helping you, as I've got no clue what it could possibly be, as the mod really isn't complex enough for something to break. Maybe if there is another mod also changing the lard.json? But that'd also make no sense because I add my recipe, not replace it...
And if it isn't the same, you can try changing
"Dependencies":{}
to
"Dependencies": {
"expandedfoods": "1.7.4",
"cutthefat": "1.0.1"}
in the modinfo.json, and see if it works then.
Can't exactly test it on my side since it JustWorksTM. In any case, I hope this fixes it for you, and if it does I'll make a new version with that added so people know to update.
I have the most recent versions of both ACA and EF installed; is there some way for me to test further, or to check and see where in the list it's being loaded?
Edit: I took a look at the files, and does the dependancy need to also be listed in the modinfo.json, as well as the recipe?
Runefire I'd need more info to find out what it could be. Do you have Expanded Foods 1.7.4? I made it for the latest version, no clue if an older version had lard be created differently.
Aside from that... no clue.
Maybe if Expanded Foods gets loaded afterwards, but to my knowledge that shouldn't be unless I somehow failed the dependency setting. It's a patch that adds a recipe to Expanded Foods /recipes/simmering/lard.json, so if it's somewhere else in an old version it'd not work. I checked, and the versions I made the mod for are still the latest for both mods, and it can't be an error in the recipe addition itself as I copied it and then just changed game:fat for game:fat-cut, which is added by cutthefat.
For some reason, it doesn't seem to be working for me, in either single player or on my server. I tried clearing the cache to see if that would fix it, but it didn't help.

Short version: no, I won't add more compatibilities because I am lazy.
Long version: I wanted the ability to use chunks of fat I made when creating oiled hide for food crafting, but I also didn't want to make it absurdly cheaty or simple so I looked at lard and saw it'd add an extra step of heating the fat with water, which to me felt more balanced than just allowing for pieces to be used everywhere. This, as well as the fact that adding just lard as compatible already made me want to tear my hair out because it required understanding of modding mods I had to first gain, lead to me deciding this is good enough.
Taeo It should be fixed now if you redownload it unto the server. I forgot to add the mod version to the modinfo.json, sorry about that.
And I double checked to make sure that it works now, here's the screenshot:
This is great; I was looking for a patch like this! Would you consider expanding the cut fat to work with more items? like pemicans or saussages etc?
This can't automatically download for a multiplayer session. the game says
"Checking cutfattolardcompat@... No such version.. Ask the mod author to upload this version on moddb"
