The chiseled block I'm using is visible behind the window. I have the same one in my hand. I right-click on the largest slot and the two vertical slots in the middle, but nothing happens. However, I can place the chiseled block on the "shelves".

I tried this in both creative and survival modes.

I use the 1.22.1 version of Vintage Story.

I did notice the storage slots, a thin central vertical slot and a slot the size of half a block. I assume this last slot is where the carved block should be placed, although I also tried the others. I'll try again in case I missed something, but I think I've tested all possible combinations, including the chiseled block's orientation.

If you look at the images, it is that slot there to put the chiseled block as that one has correct values for a full block to be central so the chiseled blocks will be positioned correctly.

If you wanna comment with some images then I can see clearer.

I couldn't get the chiseled block to fit. I tried Right click, Sprint + Right click, Sneak + Right click, Sneak + Sprint + Right click, in front of, behind, and to the side of the custom window storage.

So there is a slot just behind the middle one, you place it like any normal item. Then if it isn't facing the right way you use the wrench on that slot to rotate by right clicking.
