What do?

This itty bitty patch lets you feed red, blue, and fire clay into a pulverizer to "press" it into raw tiles, which can then be pressed again (either through the pulverizer or manually) into raw shingles, at a slightly higher rate compared to regular ol' clayforming.

Workflow

1 Clay Pulverizer 1 Tile

Pulverizer

Crafting Grid

4 Shingles

1 piece of clay will ultimately spit out 4 shingles (3 clay to 12 shingles, as opposed to 4 clay to 12 with the clayforming recipe)

How do?

You must feed the pulverizer with a chest/crate and chute! Manual input won't work!

Set up your pulverizer for automatic intake, dump your clay in, and sit back while the machine does its magic!

Why do?

Because I really liked @Mr_Zey's Discord suggestion of a Clay Press - some sort of mechanical clayformer to reduce the sheer wrist strain risk that is clayforming your own roof tiles.

Could it be better? Of course! Preferably you'd have to make some kind of metal ring-mold to justify the pulverizer pressing out the correct shape, but it's my patch, am lazy! ๐Ÿ˜

would be great if there was some way to get it to press clay tiles too

I second this, maybe even make tiles the default output when inputting raw clay. Then maybe inputting tiles could further process those into shingles?

Great mod btw!

I actually agree, having clay tiles as the default output would make more physical sense. Then you can manually refine them into shingles if needed, or something.

vluka96 Pineas So, I'll have a look into this! It should be completely doable. I completely forgot tiles existed, and the original idea was hyperfocused in on a Discord suggestions thread, so it was more about shingles than clayworks as a whole.

I recommend just changing it to the pulverizer forming clay into tiles, and tiles being possible to transform into shingles by simple crafting. Should be more or less the same raw clay cost, right?

I'm more fond of the pulverizer chain idea because the dominant idea behind why I did this patch was reducing wrist strain - because of the sheer number of shingles you need to build a roof in vanilla, having to use the crafting grid limits your max output, so it's a lotta mouse movement and shift click spam.

But, I can do both! I'll see about adding a grid recipe for tiles>shingles, while also having tiles>shingles be a valid pulverizer output. c:
