LICHEN: CERAMIC BUCKET & BARREL

A simple mod that adds barrels and buckets made from clay.

I thought this was a silly technology to lock behind metal-working, so I've added these to make the tech available early on. There are other mods for this, but I decided I wanted to implement it my own way.

I did not really find the need to nerf these, and so they function exactly like vanilla buckets and barrels. I personally focus on clay & stone technology so I wanted this for my own low tech single-player games.

For 1.22.x

▸ Features

Ceramic Barrel & Bucket

  • Made via clayforming
  • Includes varients for Blue, Red and Fire Clay
    • (Currently doesn't add color variants from beehive kiln manipulation, unsure if I'll add this.)
  • Functions exactly like vanilla buckets and barrels.
▸ Changelog

v1.0.0

  • Initial Release
▸ Other Mods & Planned Features

Planned Updates:

  • Currently Feature Complete - This may change in the future, feel free to suggest additions.
  • (I may make it so they shatter if the blocks fall.)

Other Lichen Mods:

▸ Compatibility & License

Compatibility

  • Should be compatible with anything that requires barrels or buckets, since it's directly using the base game code and should be dynamically compatible with modded liquids or uses unless the mod is doing something extra funky.

Q: Is this compatible with [insert bucket/barrel overhaul mod]?
A: I have no idea. Support will probably have to be on their side, unless I personally use the mod and find a need for it.

i think the barrels would look a bit better if they take 8 blocks of peat to fire the lid clips trough other then that this has been amazing great work

The barrel and bucket do not fill with water in rain like buckets and barrels in vanilla.

@Lich: Interesting, I'll investigate

Was this issue confirmed? If so, would it be possible to fix? I had hoped to use this mod to collect rain.

I have not had time to confirm but if it is an issue i'm sure it won't be too much of an issue to fix when I get time

That isn't a vanilla feature, thats part of Dana Tweaks.

It sounds like the cooked barrel and bucket still use the wet sounds when being placed, at least the orange ones.

Otherwise, thanks for the mod! I want to enjoy the stone age for a bit longer than I usually would and this is a huge help!

I agree, this should be vanilla. Just an idea: the barrel is so tall it sticks out above the fuel in a pit kiln (like the standard storage vessel). Maybe change it to require the same amout of fuel as a storage vessel to fire in a pit kiln (they are similar in size). Thank you for making this!

idk about the handles on the buckets, they'd likely break quickly.

i saw plenty of ceramic water vessels with ceramic handles in my research, it's fine

SOMEBODY FINALLY DID IT

i've updated the versioning to include 1.22.3 because nothing in the update would affect or change the functionality of this mod.
