"Stickworks? I sure hope it does!"

Stickworks allows you to carve sticks from firewood using a knife, with knives made from higher-tier materials increasing the amount of sticks gained.

  • Tier 1: 1 firewood = 1 stick. This tier includes the basic stone knives, as well as the ruined knives you can find as clutter.
  • Tier 2: 1 firewood = 2 sticks. This tier includes copper knives, as well as the soft precious metals like gold and silver.
  • Tier 3: 1 firewood = 3 sticks. All 3 bronze knives are Tier 3.
  • Tier 4: 1 firewood = 4 sticks. Iron and meteoric iron knives are in this tier.
  • Tier 5: 1 firewood = 5 sticks. Once you reach steel, you can produce a whopping 5 sticks per firewood!

This is just my first mod to try out making content mods and familiarize myself with the basics. More features for this (such as a quern-like block to create sticks using mechanical power), as well as more complex mods to come soon!

Ah dang, it would conflict with things the way other firewood-to-sticks mods conflict then.

I've been looking for options to convert wood to sticks, how does this work specifically? Is it in the crafting grid, or is it a ground craft?

It's currently a crafting recipe where you put a knife + firewood in the crafting grid. Ground crafting does seem like a good idea though!

Your comment makes me realize I never added any pictures actually showing the recipe.

Thank you for the kind words! Glad you enjoy the mod; sticks were a personal pain point for me as well and I wanted to fix that.

Thank you! I promise getting started is the hardest part; modding is quite rewarding if you stick with it :P
The progression aspect was important for me as I find myself defaulting to just using stone tools for crafting recipes; which (while optimal) didn't feel particularly immersive to me, so I figured i'd reshape the mechanics to encourage using better tools at least in this way.

Nice mod ! Always looking for immersive mods that make stick production easier, vanilla mechanic is such a pain x)

Oh! I like this option. And it's a good starter mod, I keep telling myself I should start and never get there.

Plus it scales up as your progression increases.

Sure, I could look into whipping something up! What exactly did you have in mind functionality-wise for the dry grass? My interpretation of what you said is something along the lines of "you get extra dried grass by using higher-tier knives".

I literally had a similar idea for this just yesterday, well done!

Any chance of a similar mod for dry grass specifically?
