Chisel to your heart's content with a resizable selection box.

A new chisel mode has arrived! Press [R] to open the resize chisel selection menu, which will automatically switch the chisel mode to "Resizable" if you're looking at a chiseled block. This mode can also be selected through the vanilla tool mode menu.

In a future update, user-created presets will be available for more efficient swapping between frequently used selections. By default, the available presets are: Slab, Pillar, Cube, Plane, and Strip.

The R button will rotate your selection around the corresponding axis/dimension. You can also hold [Shift] while clicking a quick-resize button (1, 2, 4, 8, 16) to resize matching axes/dimensions in parallel.

Adding voxels at the desired location can be difficult when "Snap to Grid" is disabled. I'll keep exploring ways to improve this feature.

Finally, a safeguard has been implemented to prevent the chisel from being abused as a near-instant mining tool. Any non-player-placed blocks (i.e., naturally generated blocks) cannot be modified beyond 512 voxels (e.g., 8×8×8) unless they are picked up and placed back down. Blocks must be placed while Better Chisel is present to be recognized as player-placed.

Garbino Odd... nothing that affects chiseling changed between the versions

Darkbrook For whatever reason I had the same problem as PlagueTheIdiot when I used the 1.20.5 version in 1.20.4 game and fixed it when I used the 1.20.4 version instead.

PlagueTheIdiot Try enabling 'Snap to Grid' in the resizable chisel selection menu. Also don't worry, all Better Chisel versions should be compatible with all 1.20+ game versions. I have it marked as 1.20.5-rc.1 because that's the version I was using when I released the update.

PlagueTheIdiot Make sure you are downloading the 1.20.4 version if you are using 1.20.4

For some odd reason, this did not work for me, as the resizable mode in the chisel menu kept causing me to be unable to interact with the block.

SMB64 I believe it's compatible, but if you find anything that doesn't seem to work right in either mod let me know and I'll look into it.

💬 SMB64, Feb 20th at 4:40 PM

is this compatable with QP's Chisel Tools mod? if not, would it be possible to add compatibility?

💬 Darkbrook , Feb 19th at 7:25 AM

Aureaux When that happens, try either looking at a different face of the block, or turn a new block into a chiselable one and access the menu while looking at it with a chisel in your hand.

💬 Aureaux, Feb 19th at 5:50 AM

I can't seem to even access the new menu . It seems like I'm stuck on snap to grid being disabled and I don't know how to enable it.

Sleeves It's because you have Snap to Grid disabled, forgot to specify the experimental mode is when it's off.

Glad to know you had the same thought :-] The mod has already saved me plenty of time on windows and arches, but for now, I do have a bug report. I didn't see an issue tracker, so here: if I chisel off a plane on one axis (e.g. 1x16x16), I cannot then do the same on another axis (e.g. 16x16x1)- instead the chisel will just select the block behind the one I'm aiming at.

Sleeves That was the original plan, and I may look into adding it in the future, but it would almost exclusively be used for removing material, since you wouldn't be able to set points in chiseled-away areas. That's why I ended up mirroring vanilla functionality instead of using a world-edit-like point select system.

HUGE!!! Any chance of a mode where you just select point 1 and point 2 of a cube at the highest precision? Either way, I'm so happy. Thank you

Junrall At the moment, it only adds a new tool mode to the vanilla chisel. I prefer to stay as close to vanilla as possible, so I most likely won't be adding any new blocks or items—just focusing on increasing the useability of what's already implemented.

💬 Junrall, Feb 14th at 7:21 AM

Is this is going to be a light version QP's Chisel Tools or is it going in a different direction? I'm already liking the looks of the gui.

Good to have alternatives/choices!
