This is a simple content mod to Xytabich's Fields of Salt where if you make the evaporation pond on a freshwater source, it takes twice as much amount of water before getting salt.
Freshwater Salinization is a thing.
If you want to get a rather semi-consistent/cheaty way of getting clay, however, check Beds of Sediment, it's sister mod.
